For this brief, we wanted to target females aged between 12-25 years old. We decided that females aged between 12-25 are a good group to target as my partner and I are within this age range ourselves and therefore know which elements will appeal and attract our audience.
In regards to the skin cancer aspect of the breif, we think that that it's important to get the message of how dangerous sun beds and tanning can be for females aged between 12-25 due to the fact that more particularly the younger half of our audience (12-19) have grown up with technology and are therefore digital natives, meaning they're typically signed up to the major social media platform such as Instagram meaning they're constantly exposed to ideal self, influencers that they may follow or who's posts are reccommeded. These 'influenecrs' have ideal bodies, an amazing tan and no flaws, obviously making impressionable young girls want to go out and also get tanned in order to look like these influencers. Therefore we'd like to show them the dangers of this plus alternatives to sun beds such as bottled tan.
The older half of our audience (20-25) also need to be made aware on the dangers of sun beds not only due to the fact that they would also most likely have social media accounts and be influenced by these accounts and online people however females within this age rage are more likely to be into working out and going to the gym. Therefore its common that they would rather use a sun bed to get a tan in comparison to bottled tan since bottled tan would most likely sweat of or start cracking / going crusty on the skin when its constantly getting wet and dried / rubbed about. Which is not ideal.
In regards to the smoking aspect of our brief, most people try their first cigarette when they are young (12-17) and later on get hooked for years to come, therefore it's important that young people are made aware of how dangerous smoking really is. However we also feel that it's important to still target 18-25 year old's since this is the age where if you stop smoking you still have the chance to get your lungs and health back to the way it was before you started smoking, therefore it's important to let people know it's not too late to quit.
